My name is Maria, I am coming from Greece and I “converted” to analogue 4 years ago. It basically began from a need to re-purpose things in my house that were of no interest; old, ruined books, supposedly broken film cameras. This is how I loaded an old yashica and started shooting film.
The reason why I stuck with it was that it reinvigorated my love for photography that had been suffocated by self-doubt, expectations, pressure of producing. Having those precious 36 frames (at best and if everything goes well), gave value to each one of them and forced me to take time, closely look at every corner of what I was about to shoot. And until this day I haven’t gone back to digital.
